T.V. '67

From the Wyncote label we have this collection of themes that are not heard very often and are a very welcome addition to the archives. Even if you're not familiar with the shows, give it a try, you may like what you hear! Thanks once more to LoungeTracks for this rare little gem!

"T.V. 67 is here. The suspense and drama of these fantastic new shows are presented in this one explosive recording. The unrelenting force of the Dragnet, the heroism of I Spy, and the spine-tingling daring of T.H.E. Cat are captured under this cardboard cover. So stand back, and open with excessive care, because this album is untamed, uncontrollable and deathly potent."

THEME FROM THUNDERBALL

Like one or two other LP's featured on the site, here is a great crime inspired cover but what is contained is not exactly kosher spy jazz. Obviously designed to cash-in on the then current Bond mania, this album of music by The Mexicali Brass is a little mis-leading but never mind! we love our latin grooves here in the lounge.

THEME FROM THE SILENCERS...

A short but sweet album now from The Wilson Lewes Trio. This features some nice jazz versions of some cult spy tunes, and although it only features four tracks and a 20min running time (approx) it is very much worth a listen. And boy do these old crime LP's have some great covers or what!

SOUNDS FOR MONO SPIES AND PRIVATE EYES

Back in the sixties when stereo was still a relatively new thing, many albums were given dual mono/stereo releases. Sometimes these featured slightly different arrangements and recording techniques. For the completists out there, here is the monophonic release of probably my second favourite crime jazz LP (the first being The Man From O.R.G.A.N. by Dick Hyman). Thanks again to LT for this rip, along with several others recently featured.

JOHN BARRY PLAYS FILM & TV THEMES

Another very nice album from the LoungeTracks archive now with this great John Barry LP. This one features some nice alternate arrangements of From Russia With Love and The 007 theme. Also featured are the atmospheric classic "Fancy Dance" and the grrovy "Kinky" along with several others. A great Barry collection by anyones standard.

THE IPCRESS FILE (MONO)

Although this has been featured previously on the site, here we have the Mono pressing of this classic soundtrack. Not much to say about it as I'm sure everyone knows it by now. Barry in one-channel is better then most other composers in two!

MUSIC FROM 77 SUNSET STRIP

A great LP from 1959 courtesy of the archives of LoungeTracks. This is old school crime jazz from the days when jazz was "in" baby! This original mono pressing has the Aaron Bell Orchestra playing it straight down the middle (sorry!) The cover informs us that the orchestra is in fact a well-known bunch of players, including, Eddie Costa, Ray Bryant, Oliver Jackson, Seldon Powell and Kenny Burrell with the fore mentioned Aaron Bell on Bass. So grab a copy and settle down for some smooth swinging crime jazz.

THEMES FROM JAMES BOND THRILLERS - VOL.3

Third times a charm! Again our fellow agent (with a shelf bending under the weight of crime vinyl) LoungeTracks completes the long wanted Roland Shaw Bond trilogy. The third in the series recorded way back when cover versions were cool, this is another high-octane collection of full-on, kick-ass orchestral masterpieces from one of the best in the business!
The first two volumes can be found in our archives
