SOUNDTRACK '78

Here is a nice Japanese release featuring film themes from 1978. Although the cover would suggest a treasure trove of spy themes contained within, this is not the case. There are some great movie themes on this LP however and it includes a version of "Bond 77" that is a little different to the standard album version.

THEMES FROM GREAT MOTION PICTURES

Another great LP found by isbum and ripped for your pleasure. This is a great collection of superb arrangements, including a few crime related tracks, one of which (The Deadly Affair) is featured on the Crime Files jukebox above. Grab a coffee, take a seat and enjoy!

FFROM HASKELL WITH LOVE

Thanks to isbum for scouring the vinyl bins to find this pretty rare little treasure. Jimmy Haskell and his Orchestra play some great movie themes, and even though they're not all from the crime/spy genre, it's still a treat to feature the album here on the lounge.

CRIME MIX

This is a little project isbum has been working on for quite a while, squirreling away tracks here and there waiting for just the right ingredients to bake this beauty. Contained in this Crime Mix compilation are 48 tracks with an accent on action and suspense! Even the great cover design was his own concept, I merely put the elements together and gave it a spit 'n polish. Strap yourself in and prepare to be aurally assaulted. This is...Crime, isbum style!

EL EMBAJADOR Y YO

Something a little different now with the soundtrack to the Peruvian crime comedy "El Embajador Y Yo" (Ambassador and I) from 1966. With a fantastic jazzy score by Jaime Delgado Aparicio, including a few bossa nova selections (always a hit with me) as well as some smokey crime jazz. Check out the main theme on the Crime Files Jukebox.

SERIAL THRILLER

From the French "Kosinus Production Music Library" comes this great little homage to the crime music of the sixties. Featuring ten standard length tracks plus the usual collection of variations found on these collections. It's a great listen and is a very welcome addition to the lounge. Many thanks to Isbum for thinking of us when he found it!

GOLDEN HOUR PRESENTS : SCREEN MUSIC BEST HITS

Another choice slice of Stapleton now with the PYE "Golden Hour" release. A couple of tracks are replicated from the previous post but this collection also includes some great Easy Listening versions of classic Film themes including The Sting (as pictured), the ever popular Never On A Sunday, Le Casse (The Burglar) and my personal pick of the bunch, the theme from Borsalino (listen to it on the Crime Files jukebox) Thanks again to Isbum for ripping the LP.

GREAT FILM AND TELEVISION THEMES

Anyone who has delved into my "Crime Jazz Collection" will know that I am a fan of Cyril Stapleton and his big bombastic orchestra. Although the LP cover (featuring the sixties icon "Twiggy") would suggest a collection of twenties flavoured compositions, it in fact contains some supreme arrangements of classic themes. Cyril lends his considerable skill to the likes of, Diamonds Are Forever, The French Connection and the always popular Persuaders theme. There are also some choice selections from other genre's covered too!

This great album was released in the "QS" quadraphonic sound! unfortunately we only have the two channels featured here :)

LAS VEGAS INTERNATIONAL PHILHARMONIC PLAYS 007 CLASSICS

Here we have the Las Vegas International Philharmonic performing their own versions of the Bond themes. For the most part these are pretty faithful arrangements but still manage to be quite unique compared to other versions. Not exactly in the same league as John Barry or Roland Shaw but very listenable none the less!
Cover scans included.

HAMMOND BOND

Prepare to go undercover with some groovy tunes!
Ripped and scanned for the Crime Lounge by Isbum is this quality slice of keyboard funkiness. Let the German maestro Ingfried Hoffmann show you how to tickle those ivory's with complete control! The original LP was releases in 1966 with four bonus tracks from 1963 included on the cd re-issue. Bond has never been so (organ)ic :)

THE JAZZ SQUAD

I don't know much about this album or the artist but I sure know one thing.....This is Crime Jazz in the traditional mould! Although this release dates as the 90's I presume these recordings are from around the early 60's or if not have been re-created with superb authenticity. Take a trip back to the Golden-Age with these swinging jazz greats!

SITTING TARGET

Forget The Deer Hunter! This is one of Stanley Myers' finest moments. Presented here after a 30 year hiatus is the wonderfully groovy score to the 1971 British crime thriller starring Oliver Reed, Jill St John, Edward Woodward and Ian McShane. If you like the work of Roy Budd you'll probably like this one too!
