TV COP SHOW THEME SONGS

Here is one from the LaserLight label, which if anyone is familiar with will know that they usually contain pretty basic synth versions of theme tunes. These are indeed electronic versions of all our well-known cop shows.

Another library album is added to our archive thanks to isbum. This one hails from the "Gung-Ho! Music Library" and features a nice section entitled "60's Mania" which has some retro inspired tracks including like "Our Man Skint", Operation Darjeeling" and "Girl On The Run". These were composed by Crispin Merrill, famous for working with Gerry Andersonin recent years and composer of the New Captain Scarlet CGI series.

SHAKEN NOT STIRRED

Another compilation of themes from the secret agent/spy genre, including some superb arrangements and versions alongside some more mundane "songs". Overall though this is a first class collection and has something for everyone. Check out the tracklisting and info in the comments...

SECRET AGENT S.O.U.N.D.S.

Another modern interpretation of the crime jazz genre now, but this time the style is pure swinging 60's. The style here is pure surf guitar and it's all the better for it!
If you like your spy grooves with that cool retro twangy guitar sound, and a touch of groovy hammond organ thrown in for good measure, then this is the album for you! The ever wonderful Combustible Edison showcase their great version of "A Shot In The Dark" and along with many other bands heavily influenced by the lounge/surf/exotica genres.

POP FICTION : NEW CRIME JAZZ

A compilation of more recent tunes from the world of electronica now. Although this is not to everyone's taste, there are some good tunes featured here, including the Space March inspired "Timber" by Grantby, and moody "Wet Stuff" by Folk Implosion. Turn up the subwoofer and chill out!

POLICE AT THE LIBRARY

From the French music production library "Koka Media" comes this slice of crime themed mood music. As you may have noticed from the cover, this is a blend of good old-fashioned "jazzy" crime, with a number of tracks having a more modern style. A very successful attempt to capture the "mood" intended! Check out the sample track "The Sleuth" on the Crime Files Jukebox.

SOUNDTRACK '78

Here is a nice Japanese release featuring film themes from 1978. Although the cover would suggest a treasure trove of spy themes contained within, this is not the case. There are some great movie themes on this LP however and it includes a version of "Bond 77" that is a little different to the standard album version.

INCREDIBLE WORLD OF BOND

Many thanks to Cedric for yet another rare record rip. This is a compilation from the 60's containing original soundtrack cues from John Barry & Monty Norman as well as excellent cover versions by Leroy Holmes. The album had two releases, one was a ten track stereo version (The blue "girls" cover above) and a twelve track mono version (The rip featured here and pictured above in Black & Green). Although the "girls" cover is from the alternate release I've put it in the file as an extra, I think it's a better cover but it's up to you which one you use....take your pick. If anyone has a rip of the blue cover stereo version above, please share it with us.

There are 24 big bombastic action packed crackers here. Fire up the Aston Martin, put on those black leather driving gloves and hit play on the in car 8-track cartridge.

MUSIC TO READ JAMES BOND BY

Have these albums got great covers or what?
This is one of two albums released by United Artists during the 60's at the height of "Bond-Mania". The artists list reads like a who's who of easy listening. It took me a long time to track down volume two (next post) but well worth the wait and nice to have them both.
Many thanks to Loungetracks for the rip.
